Here is a delightful submission for the role of Ah Counter by TM Alexis from Montreal. TM Alexis here focuses on why it’s a good idea to work on your filler words now rather than later when you are a seasoned public speaker. Take a look.

There is a long way to do anything and a short way. For example – if you wanted to get rid of your filler words, you could do so after you become a seasoned public speaker and embarrass yourself on several occasions or you could do so while learning the skill. Needless to say, the second way is more desirable and easy. And that’s what we recommend in Toastmasters as well. That is why every session has an Ah counter to help you do so. As the Ah Counter today, I will keep a track of all filler words such as ah, umm, like, you know etc. you use during the course of the meeting. I will present this report towards the end so that you are on the shortest route to becoming a good public speaker.
