RELATED: How to do the role of Grammarian?
Toastmasters is like a wholesome breakfast cereal. It offers you a little bit of learning in all aspects. Be it leadership, public speaking, listening skills or the English language itself. The last one is taken care of by a dedicated Grammarian in every session who uses his listening skills to help you perfect your language skills. And that’s my responsibility today.
As the Grammarian I will keep track of all the right usage of language, good phrases, words etc. but more importantly the not so right usage of words and incorrect pronunciations as well so that we can all perfect our language skills.
I am also supposed to give you the Word of the Day. It’s “Amity”
It’s a noun and it means “Friendly relations”
An example of a sentence using the word is
“We live in amity with our neighbours”
I hope everyone uses this word to the maximum in our meeting today. I will be back with my report towards the end of the meeting.
