Peter Drucker, the world’s greatest management guru has said “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” Athletes measure their performance to improve their timing. Businesses measure their costs to improve their profits. And in Toastmasters, we measure filler words so that we can improve our fluency.
As the Ah Counter today, that’s my role – to measure the filler words used during the meeting. Filler words are words like ah, umm, err, you know etc. that we use involuntarily while speaking. I will keep a track of them and present my report towards the end of the meeting so that you may improve upon your fluency.
