Mobile chat conversations are the nightmares a Grammarian may have. Here is a script by TM Manish from Delhi based on this theme. Have a look.
Mobile has single handedly ruined the years of efforts of our English teachers. They taught us why it’s incorrect to start a sentence with “because” and here we are sending messages that say “coz I wanna eat some pizza.” While a teenager may believe it looks cool, a professional just loses his credibility.
Thankfully, Toastmasters is here to save the day. I am playing the role of Grammarian today “coz you don’t wanna lose your credibility.” As a Grammarian, my role is to look for all the good usage of English, good phrases, words, idioms etc. and also the not so good usage and incorrect pronunciations.
I am also supposed to give you the word of the day. It’s “resilient”
It’s an adjective that means “able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult situations”
An example of a sentence using the word is –
“An idea is the most resilient parasite” from the movie Inception
I hope everyone uses the word to the maximum. I will be back with my report towards the end of the meeting. Thank You
Thank you TM Manish for this wonderful submission. If you have an idea for any role in Toastmasters, do let us know here.
