An Ah counter script based on the theme of Independence Day

To any nation, Independence Day is one celebration that induces a sense of immense pride and nationality among its citizens. TM Mayank from Delhi has submitted a beautiful script for Ah Counter based on this theme. Irrespective of your nationality, if your club is celebrating this day with a theme, this script will add charms to your role as an Ah Counter (with necessary tweaks.)

Role of Ah Counter in Toastmasters

Hello everyone. Its 15th of August today, the day India finally gained freedom and began its journey towards a glorious future. The word “freedom” itself has a very positive aura to it. Dictionary defines it as “the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.” But its more than a word, it’s a basic right that every nation should strive to provide its citizen.

Along the same lines, there is another prison that enslaves most of us – crutch words. Too often, public speakers are enslaved by crutch words such as ah, umm, err, you know, because etc. that involuntarily appear to dominate their speeches. As an Ah counter today, my role is to help you gain freedom from your crutch words so that you too can begin your journey as a glorious speaker. I will keep a track of all filler words used by you while on stage today and present my report towards the end of the meeting.

Thank you Mayank for this wonderful script.
